In a reiki practice you experience many different people and situations that enhance your understanding of the energy, your spirit connection to others, and sometimes provide hope for those who present personal disappointment for healing.
Years ago I had the honor to do reiki on a woman going through yet another round of IVF treatments to conceive a child. Loving the way it made her feel, she took the Jikiden Reiki class. Not long after she became pregnant. Sharing her iPhone pregnancy app, at a student reiki retreat in the hills of San Diego, I wrote the following:
When you were the size of a sesame seed:
Little one,
You graced us with hope
Your presence, a hint of creation
The beauty of more
the power of spirit
within another
shared love between hearts.
Blessings surrounded you
feeding your soul
at the same time, feeding ours.
As the angels sang softly through sunlit leaves
to you, the unborn babe.
May your life be both gentle and loving.
May you know the love in your mother's arms and the strength in your father's heart.
May you discover your life's purpose early and share your gifts with others.
And may you always know joy and laughter.
We're so glad you chose to be born now.
And so it is.
